From the very beginning MCV started out with a vision to develop around the community's imagination, building systems/features players can interact with (self-serve) to achieve complex gameplay within a public minecraft sandbox. There was also a desire to intervene as little as possible as out-of-game moderators while making it clear when moderators would be forced to.
The website is now available in BETA! It won't be PUSHED as a must-use feature, except for things like support and submissions. A big benefit to all this is that it will allow members from the community to be more involved and even make decisions as a community for the community. I don't want "community" to just be a marketing term, but design how MCV works with that in mind and as the goal.
So what was added? A lot. Not everything is "launch ready" but it is all technically working. A lot of the features allow to be restricted to Citizens, affording us some privacy and freedom - but consider the content to be "public" anyways. Some features are complimentary to the game, enabling uploading images for image frame, and even resizing and turning them into paintings.
Accounts and Private Messaging. Minecraft skin import.
Support for game issues and ban appeals
Submissions (Competitions and content) and Uploads (File hosting)
Image Frame Tools, Painting Creator
Player Warps and Real Estate (Advertising player content)

My goal is to protect the game universe and limit moderation/support in game. This will allow everyone to enjoy and relax, instead of logging in to "work". Additionally, the goal is we can all be on the same "Player" terms, setting our own rules of engagement.
These updates are less about "scaling MCV to bigger things" and more about making interesting things possible, and working towards a consistent/fair offering to all in terms of support and feature accessibility. (And until this point its all been volunteer based, worth mentioning)
